NCEA English 3.4 Writing Folio – Chapter One
I wake to a sudden feeling of urgency flowing through my veins, opening my eyes to see a familiar room in double. I pull myself out of bed and stumble into the wall, not remembering anything that happened last night. I use my hands to push myself away from the wall to keep my balance but all I can feel is spinning, I attempt to walk over to my table and grab my … That’s when I hear foot steps crunching outside, I turn my head around to see a man dressed in a black suit, staring at me through the window. His black eyes piercing straight through mine, before I can say anything he disappears but this time with no footsteps. I cautiously walk to my window, scouting my backyard, but I can’t see him. He just vanished without a trace. I stay standing there for a while, still looking around for any movement but I don’t see anything. I’m not sure how long I waited to see any sign of him again, But it would have been at least 20 minutes. The feeling of fear infested my mind, creating nothing but negative thoughts. I began to question who the man was, and why he had come to see me.
I walked to my kitchen, made breakfast then walked out the door. I step out onto my front porch and begin my walk to town, The weather was a questionable choice to walk in. With the sky filled with dark grey rain clouds. However it still hadn’t rained yet, so I thought I would try my luck. I still had a eerie feeling about what had happened, like I was under constant surveillance. But I must just be paranoid right? I tell myself i’m overthinking everything, he must have just gotten the wrong address. That’s when the slightest bit of rain begins to fall from the clouds, slowly starting to cover my face in rain. I hear the sound of tires screeching as I just finish crossing the road, and look to my left and see a black tinted limousine coming towards me at some ridiculous speed for a residential area. It skids around the corner, with the back tires spinning and covering the road in a white smoke cloud they pull up in front of me, with 3 men in black suits getting out of the car. One of them aggressively telling me to “Get in”. I froze for a second, then decided to take my chance at outrunning them, I sprint over to a fence and vault over it. By now the adrenaline had kicked in giving me the energy I never knew I had, I felt invincible. I continue jumping through peoples property’s to get away from the men in the black suits, but they are keeping a good pace on me, still being right behind me. That’s when I look ahead and see a concrete wall twice the height of me, I know my only way out of this is to get over this wall, with the men being right behind me and even bigger walls either side of me. I get as much of a run up as I can, and leap for the wall, a sense of relief went over my body as I feel my hand at the top of the wall, I had enough grip to pull myself up. But all of a sudden I feel my ankle being pulled down. Fuck, they got me.
I wake up and all i can see is pitch black, that’s when I begin to get my senses back and hear a engine running, and realize that we’re still on the road. I can feel my knees against my chest, I must be locked in the boot. I try to reach into my pocket to grab my phone, but my hands are stuck together with what i’m guessing is duct tape. I pretend to still be asleep, so the kidnappers don’t know i’m awake. I must have actually fell asleep because I woke up tied to a chair in a warehouse, with a light beaming in a circle over me. That was my only escape plan, and I ruined it. I try to yell out for help, but my mouth is taped over as well. I try and free myself from the duct tape around my ankles and wrists, but I can’t. That’s when I look to the roof and see a black rectangle and a small green light. Cameras, Cameras everywhere. That’s when I see someone walk in, slowly striding towards me I thought about how much power he has over me right now, I feel helpless
